Enable ping through the firewall of Vista or Windows 7

I built a Windows 7 Virtual Machine and needed to test pings to it however it would not respond due to it being blocked.
This solved the issue as an administrator:
netsh firewall set icmpsetting 8 enable
and this to disable again:
netsh firewall set icmpsetting 8 disable
